Open-weights model
An open-weights model is an AI model whose trained parameters are published for anyone to download, run, and fine-tune, unlike closed models accessible only through a vendor's API.
Llama, Mistral’s releases, and many others are open weights. Licenses vary, and open weights does not mean fully open source, since training data and code often stay private.
